Federico García Lorca Research Center in Fuente Vaqueros

The Centro de Estudios Lorquianos (Federico García Lorca Research Center) in Fuente Vaqueros is an extension of the Patronato Federico García Lorca (FGL Cultural Board), whose aims are:

• Conservation and making available the documentary and bibliographic heritage to investigators.
• Dissemination of the work and life of Federico García Lorca, with a permanent program of activities that includes exhibitions, conferences, concerts, etc.
• Promotion and support of research projects on Lorca and his time.
• Publications, as an important instrument of dissemination.

The Lorca Research Center is located in a municipal building that had housed the old schools and the Town Hall of Fuente Vaqueros, since the 1930s. It was inaugurated on June 5, 1998.

It is a space open to all kinds of proposals starting with some facet of the life, work or historical context of Federico García Lorca. It is especially directed towards young creators who, through their work, always offer a different and new look at the poet.

Its library has a bibliographic collection of more than 5,000 volumes and about fifty titles of magazines of the time, most of which are single issues or facsimile editions. This collection is highly specialized on the work and life of Federico and also contains an important section dedicated to other members of his generation and to the cultural and political life of his time.

Of great interest to scholars and lovers of Lorca and his time, editions ranging from the late nineteenth century to the most current publications are preserved.
