The House of Bernarda Alba, the property that inspired Federico García Lorca for the creation of one of his most famous plays, opened its doors to the public as a museum on December 18, 2018, after being restored by the Council of Valderrubio, a municipality located in the heart of La Vega of Granada
It is a traditional farmhouse with two floors, also intended as a space to store the harvested crops, with a large patio that offers multiple possibilities for planning cultural activities.
The purpose of the project was to convert the house into a tourist-cultural space open to visitors, where the importance of Lorca in the theater and Valderrubio as a source of inspiration can be disseminated.
Visitors can enjoy a multimedia audiovisual recreation of the atmosphere, customs and experiences that inspired the work of the poet and playwright, allowing the visitor’s emotions go back to the time of the play, since the building keeps its scenes intact.
